System Center 2022, Microsoft’s data center management suite, is now generally available. The 2022 release contains updated versions of System Center tools like Operations Manager (SCOM), Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM), Orchestrator (SCORCH), Service Manager (SCSM) and Data Protection Manager (DPM). The latest update includes optimizations for Azure Stack HCI, the latest versions of VMware, new integration with Microsoft Teams, better support for IPv6 with software-defined networking, and support for Windows Server 2022. In addition, the 2022 release includes support for Azure Arc for multi-cloud and hybrid cloud management. Details on these announcements can be found here
Why This Matters
- While almost all companies are working on a cloud transition, most still maintain on-premises data centers and need to operate with hybrid management. System Center provides tools to handle these on-premises systems.
- With support for Azure Arc, Microsoft Teams, and Azure Stack HCI, System Center 2022 includes modernizations aimed at companies that have significant investments in the System Center suite while still creating deeper connections into Azure.
