The public preview of the new Outlook for Windows experience is now available. This new Outlook client will ultimately replace the existing desktop version of Outlook as well as the Windows Mail app built into Windows 10 and 11. The new Outlook app brings the Outlook on the Web features into the Windows desktop as well as deeper integration with Microsoft To-Do and Microsoft Loop. The goal is to provide a more consistent and feature-rich Outlook experience across devices. Details, screenshots, and how to access the new Outlook client can be found here.
Why This Matters
- This Outlook release is a major change to the desktop app and finally starts to align the email clients across Windows. This does not yet unify the mobile and macOS clients, but that is coming.
- This release also brings together tools that many organizations may not be using as they may not be aware. This is especially true of Microsoft Loop and Microsoft To-Do.
- Ultimately this change will impact nearly every user of Microsoft Outlook over the next several months.
