Microsoft acquires Kinvolk to accelerate container-optimized innovation
Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure Arc, and other services are gaining new expertise and solutions with the acquisition of German-based Kinvolk GmbH. Kinvolk brings significant Linux, container, and open-source expertise to Microsoft with early work with CoreOS, the rkt container runtime, Flatcar Container Linux, Lokomotive, and Inspektor Gadget projects. The Kinvolk team will play important roles in the expansion of critical services like Azure Kubernetes Services and Azure Arc. In addition, Microsoft has committed to maintaining the open-source investments and projects and connecting the open-source community with Azure Engineering.
