At Serverless Solutions, we’ve been closely following Microsoft’s ongoing enhancements to the Microsoft 365 Copilot ecosystem. Two recent updates—Copilot Tuning and Multi-Agent Orchestration—represent meaningful steps forward in how organizations can tailor and scale AI within their environments.
One of the early challenges with Microsoft 365 Copilot was the limited depth of understanding it had when working with company-specific data. While tools like Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) helped bridge the gap, they were constrained by the amount of data that could be processed at once. Microsoft is now addressing this with Copilot Tuning, a new capability that allows organizations to create a customized version of the GPT-4o model. This tuned model is trained on internal data while maintaining data security, enabling more accurate, context-aware responses that reflect the organization’s tone and terminology.
In parallel, Microsoft is introducing Multi-Agent Orchestration to both Azure AI Foundry and Copilot Studio. This feature supports the coordination of multiple AI agents, allowing them to communicate and collaborate using emerging standards like the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agent-to-Agent (A2A) communication. This orchestration layer is designed to help organizations build more complex, multi-step workflows that span across different agents and systems.
Together, these updates provide a more flexible and scalable foundation for enterprise AI. Copilot Tuning enhances the quality of individual interactions, while Multi-Agent Orchestration enables broader automation and collaboration across tools.
As these capabilities become more widely available, we’re exploring how to help our clients implement them effectively—whether that means tuning models to reflect internal knowledge or designing orchestrated agent workflows that support key business processes.
Why This Matters
· Copilot Tuning goes far beyond RAG patterns towards more intelligent models for a company. With the expanded knowledge of past projects, company voice, and related insights, far more intelligent and customized answers and documents are now possible. This can make a Microsoft 365 Copilot experience more transformative.
· With the dramatic expansion of AI agents being built, connecting these agents together is one of the most important roles for success. Microsoft is supporting the two leading standards – MCP (created by Anthropic) and A2A (created by Google) in all tools making it easier for the Microsoft platform to connect and work with any agents.
